Originally owned by the legendary James “Jim” Cavill, the true father of Surfers Paradise. Jim built the iconic Surfers Paradise Hotel in 1925 on the corner of what is now Cavill Avenue and Surfers Paradise Boulevard. He also became the inaugural president of the Surfers Paradise Surf Club in 1928.
A genuine Queensland pioneer, Jim’s vision and contributions shaped Surfers Paradise and the entire South East Queensland region into the world-class destination it is today. These plates were fitted to his brand new 1921 FIAT as he went about building this coastal paradise. He sadly passed away in his room at the Surfers Paradise Hotel in 1952.
