Official 1956 Melbourne Olympics number plates were produced in limited numbers for use on official vehicles used to transport athletes, dignitaries, and other officials during the 1956 Olympics held in Melbourne.

An unusual, but highly visible symbol, they illustrate the encompassing nature of the Olympic Games and their impact on Melbourne.

Please note that this single plate is now considered decorative and cannot be registered…but it would certainly be a head turner if displayed at an auto-event or even on a home or office feature wall!

Following the 1956 Olympics, drivers of these official vehicles were offered the single plate as a memento, while the second was handed back to the Government for destruction.
